ASELSAN Reports Record H1 2026 Growth
Türkiye’s defense electronics titan, ASELSAN, has delivered a landmark financial performance for the first half of 2026. Driven by robust international demand, deep-tech research breakthroughs, and relentless expansion into automated manufacturing, the company recorded real inflation-adjusted revenue growth of 25% year-over-year—reaching an impressive TL 88.5 billion.
The official disclosure submitted to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) underscores how strategic operational discipline can co-exist alongside unprecedented capital expenditure. As geopolitical focus sharpens around integrated air defenses, advanced radar arrays, and electronic warfare, ASELSAN continues to cement its status as both a primary sovereign defender and a high-margin global exporter.
Decisive Revenue Acceleration and High-Tech Dominance
ASELSAN’s top-line growth in H1 2026 was largely catalyzed by key system deliveries across its core technology verticals. High-value systems—including Air Defense capabilities, Radar, Electronic Warfare, AI-Driven Urban Security platforms, Electro-Optics, and Guided Munitions—saw record adoption both domestically and internationally.
The financial engines fired on all cylinders, yielding a 31% surge in EBITDA to TL 23.2 billion. Crucially, operational efficiency programs enabled the company to expand its EBITDA margin by 120 basis points to 26.3%. Meanwhile, employee efficiency kept pace, reflecting a 3% increase in revenue generated per employee in USD terms.
Capital & Technology Reinvestment Breakdown (H1 2026)
A strategic look at how ASELSAN allocated $1.127 Billion across innovation, infrastructure, and expanding production lines in the first six months of 2026.
- R&D Critical Technologies$804M (71.3%)
- Capacity & Scale Expansion$323M (28.7%)
- Smart Munitions / Defense Hub$40M Allocated
- New Automation Lines19 Lines Added
Aggressive R&D Spends & Next-Gen Manufacturing Infrastructure
Rather than resting on short-term profits, ASELSAN significantly ramped up forward-looking capital deployment. The company’s R&D expenditure climbed 41% to reach $804 million, maintaining its role as the national leader in engineering jobs and technological IP generation.
These R&D investments target strategic domain spaces with formidable barriers to entry:
- LEO Satellite Technologies for space-based situational awareness.
- Quantum Computing Applications applied to cryptographic security and complex signal processing.
- Underwater & Sonar Systems enhancing naval deterrence.
- Advanced Propulsion & Microelectronics to eliminate foreign component dependency.
- Long-Range Guided Munitions & Directed Energy (Laser) Tech.
Simultaneously, investments aimed at scale expansion surged by an astounding 195% to $323 million. The firm commissioned 17,360 square meters of new indoor facilities dedicated to smart weapons and underwater systems—a direct $40 million investment. Furthermore, by establishing 19 new robotic automation assembly lines, ASELSAN enhanced both production speed and manufacturing yield quality.
“In 2025, we exceeded the $20 billion backlog threshold for the first time. Looking ahead, we anticipate approaching the $30 billion mark from next year onward. While carrying out heavy capital investments in R&D and serial production, we maintained absolute financial discipline. The fact that our Net Debt/EBITDA ratio improved to 0.55 during an intensive growth phase demonstrates the operational mastery behind our balance sheet.”
Maintaining Balance Sheet Discipline Amid Intensive Expansion
Historically, defense firms undergoing rapid infrastructure building experience leveraged debt spikes and margin compression. ASELSAN defied this trend during the first half of 2026. The company generated robust operational cash flow of TL 15.2 billion, while keeping its equity ratio at a conservative 56%—well above international sector benchmarks.
Financial liabilities accounted for just 13.3% of total assets. In tandem, trade payables saw a 17% reduction compared to year-end figures, and Return on Equity (ROE) expanded from 11.9% to 15.5%. This disciplined leverage management ensures ASELSAN retains ample flexibility for future mega-projects, such as the upcoming initial operations at the flagship Oğulbey Technology Base.
Dual-Use Diversification & Global Standing
While military hardware forms ASELSAN’s backbone, civilian technology transfers continue to open high-margin growth vectors. A prime example is the newly inaugurated extension of the Halkalı-Istanbul Airport Metro Line—one of Europe’s fastest driverless transit systems—powered entirely by ASELSAN signaling architecture. Additionally, in healthcare, the homegrown Lifeline Heart-Lung Machine successfully supported its first open-heart surgical operation this year.
Globally, ASELSAN made history by becoming the sole Turkish defense company featured on the prestigious Forbes Global 2000 list. Following the NATO Ankara Summit—where integrated air defense, radar, and electronic countermeasure systems were named core alliance priorities—ASELSAN stands uniquely positioned to fulfill upcoming international procurement directives.
