ASELSAN’s TOLUN-P Goes Mission-Ready for Precision Strike
There are a handful of companies that define what a nation’s defense industry can become when it stops importing and starts inventing. In Turkiye, that company is ASELSAN. And its latest achievement, the TOLUN-P precision-guided munition, is proof of just how far that transformation has come.
ASELSAN announced this week that TOLUN-P is mission-ready, having completed a live-fire test that struck its target with pinpoint accuracy. The test was flown aboard Baykar’s Bayraktar Akinci, pairing two of Turkiye’s most capable defense programs in a single demonstration of what a fully domestic strike package can do.
A Weapon Built for the Hardest Targets
TOLUN-P isn’t a general-purpose bomb. It’s a specialist, engineered from the ground up to defeat the targets that conventional munitions struggle against: armored vehicles, bunkers and reinforced concrete structures built to survive an airstrike.
At the core of the system is a fusion of GNSS/INS guidance and a bunker-penetrating warhead, giving pilots the ability to hit hardened targets with a level of precision that used to require far heavier ordnance. ASELSAN rates the munition’s penetration capability at up to one meter of reinforced concrete, enough to defeat underground shelters, command centers and armored hangars in a single strike.
What makes TOLUN-P especially effective is its fuze. Rather than detonating on impact, the weapon carries a cockpit-programmable electronic fuze with a time-delay function, letting pilots dial in the exact moment of detonation after the warhead has already punched through the target’s outer shell. That timing is what turns penetration into destruction.

More Firepower Per Sortie
TOLUN-P belongs to the 250-pound weapon class, and it’s built to be carried in numbers. Integrated with ASELSAN’s SADAK-4T Multiple Ejector Rack, the munition allows a single aircraft to carry and release several rounds against multiple high-value targets in one pass. For a platform like Akinci, that means one sortie can now do the work that once took several.
The system’s specifications back up the ambition behind it. TOLUN-P can reach out to roughly 57 kilometers when launched from a UAV platform and up to 102 kilometers from a fighter, with a circular error probable under 10 meters. It’s rated for all-weather, day and night operations, carries a four-channel CRPA antenna to resist jamming, and supports in-flight retargeting and waypoint tracking. It’s also compatible with a growing list of Turkish platforms, including the F-16, Akinci, ANKA-III, Bayraktar TB3 and Kizilelma.
Part of a Bigger Family
TOLUN-P doesn’t stand alone. It’s one branch of ASELSAN’s broader Tolun family, which includes the laser-guided Tolun-L, the electronic warfare-focused Tolun-EW, the full-rate guided Tolun-F, the infrared-seeking Tolun-IIR and the ground-launched Tolun-S. Together, they form a guided munition ecosystem designed to give Turkish air power an answer for nearly every target set imaginable.

Every time ASELSAN fields a new system like TOLUN-P, it reinforces something bigger than a single weapon program. It shows a defense industry that has moved from assembling other countries’ technology to designing, testing and fielding its own, on its own timeline. Pairing TOLUN-P with a domestically built platform like Akinci only sharpens that point.
