JODDB Signs Cooperation Deals With Orange Jordan and EDGE Group
The Jordanian Design and Development Center (JODDB) has signed a string of agreements covering everything from startup support to defence manufacturing. The deals with Orange Jordan and the UAE’s EDGE Group stand out, because they show how the centre hopes to bring private companies into the country’s innovation and industrial work.
Orange Jordan: Backing Startups
The agreement with Orange Jordan is aimed at young companies that need help getting ready for the market. The two sides will run mentoring, guidance and incubation programmes, along with intensive training camps, hackathons and joint innovation challenges. The focus areas include artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, augmented and virtual reality, the Internet of Things and robotics.
The deal also works as a introduction service. It aims to connect startups with potential technical partners and investors, and it opens the door to testing prototypes and evaluating new projects. Both sides will share expertise and make use of each other’s facilities and resources, which can be just as valuable to a small firm as funding.

EDGE Group: A Push Into Defence Manufacturing
The EDGE agreement belongs to a different category altogether. It covers the defence industries, with joint manufacturing and research on subsystems at its core. The partners will also look at possible cooperation in explosives, exchange engineering know-how and work together on testing, evaluation, supply and marketing.
JODDB presents the deal as a way to strengthen local defence manufacturing and open new routes for industrial and investment partnerships. If it delivers, Jordanian companies could find themselves part of wider supply chains, though the agreement itself does not yet spell out how that would work.
A Drone Zone Takes Its First Step
Separately, the Industrial Gateway Zone, which is also a JODDB company, signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with Autonomous Aerial Superiority Technologies for Drone Manufacturing Free Zones Company. The two will study what it takes to set up drone manufacturing inside the zone, including the technical, operational and infrastructure requirements. It is an early stage, but it shows that the plans are moving beyond the drawing board.
What This Means for Jordan
Taken together, the agreements point in one direction. JODDB wants to bring the private sector closer to the innovation system, localise modern technology and grow advanced industries. Each deal is meant to attract quality investment and strengthen Jordan’s position in technical and industrial fields.
Memoranda like these often take time to turn into factories, products or funded projects. The next real signals will be announced timelines, joint projects and investment commitments. For now, the agreements are best read as a clear statement of intent.
