SOFEX 2026 exhibition at the Aqaba International Exhibition Center, Jordan

SOFEX 2026 Returns to Aqaba: What to Expect From the 15th Edition

The countdown to SOFEX 2026 has officially begun. Organisers have confirmed that preparations for the 15th edition of the Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference are complete. The event runs from 27 to 29 October 2026 at the Aqaba International Exhibition Center (AIEC), held under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II.

Why SOFEX Matters in the Region

For many people in the defence world, SOFEX has become a fixture on the calendar. It is the only exhibition and conference in the Middle East and North Africa dedicated exclusively to special operations forces and homeland security. That narrow focus is what sets it apart. Rather than covering the entire defence industry, SOFEX zooms in on the specialised capabilities that elite units depend on, from equipment and training to technology and tactics.

The event also has an economic side. Organisers say SOFEX helps position Aqaba as a leading logistics hub and an integrated global destination. For visitors, that means the trip can easily combine business with a few days on the Red Sea coast.

A Bigger Show With More Room to Grow

This year’s edition brings several upgrades. The exhibition space has been expanded to accommodate growing international participation, so visitors can expect a wider range of defence and security solutions on display. Organisers have also added enhanced networking platforms, which should make it easier for delegates to meet the right people without spending days chasing appointments.

The focus on emerging defence technologies stands out, too. Dedicated areas will highlight critical domains, and cybersecurity is getting its own space. That reflects a simple reality: modern special operations depend as much on secure networks and data as on hardware.

Public Visitors Get Their First Chance

Perhaps the biggest change this year is that SOFEX is opening its doors to the public for the first time. Past editions were largely limited to government officials, military personnel and industry professionals. This time, ordinary visitors can experience one of the region’s most influential defence and security events in person.

MESOC Opens to Ticket Holders on 26 October

The Middle East Special Operations Commanders Conference, known as MESOC, is the crown jewel of the opening day. Until now, it was reserved for military attendees. On 26 October, it will be open to ticket holders, giving civilians a rare look at the discussions that shape special operations across the region.

Who Is Expected to Attend

Organisers expect more than 25,000 specialised visitors this year, along with over 450 official delegates from more than 70 countries. More than 400 exhibitors from 37 countries are also expected to take part. Slovakia, Australia and Norway will exhibit at SOFEX for the first time, adding new voices to the show floor.

These numbers build on a strong previous edition, which drew more than 11,000 specialised visitors and over 400 official delegates from 73 countries.

What the Organisers Are Saying

Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Eng. Ayman Ahmad Al Batran, Chairman of the Board of SOFEX Jordan, said that international cooperation has become more important as defence priorities shift. He described SOFEX as a trusted platform where governments, armed forces, industry leaders and innovators meet. He also pointed to Jordan’s growing role as a regional hub for cooperation and constructive engagement in the defence and security sectors.

Looking Ahead to Aqaba in October

Whether you are a procurement officer, a defence analyst, a technology founder or simply curious about how special forces operate, SOFEX 2026 offers a rare chance to see the region’s defence landscape up close. Mark 27 to 29 October in your calendar, and keep 26 October in mind if you hold a ticket for MESOC.
