Türkiye’s first domestically developed multirole helicopter, the T625 Gökbey, made its international flight debut at the prestigious Farnborough International Airshow in the United Kingdom. The T625 Gökbey, developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), performed a seven-minute flight demonstration at the airshow. This debut marks a significant achievement for Türkiye’s aviation industry, demonstrating the country’s progress in developing advanced aerospace technologies.

The Farnborough International Airshow, held from July 22-26, is one of the world’s premier aviation events. It attracts approximately 75,000 visitors and 1,200 exhibitors, providing a crucial platform for showcasing the latest developments in defense hardware and low-emission aircraft.

The T625 Gökbey is part of Türkiye’s Original Helicopter Program, coordinated by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB). It is designed to operate effectively in challenging conditions, including high-altitude and high-temperature environments, both day and night.

TAI General Manager Mehmet Demiroğlu emphasized the importance of Gökbey’s participation in the Farnborough Airshow, noting strong demand for the product. He expressed optimism about potential export opportunities for many of TAI’s platforms in the near future.

The Gökbey’s international debut underscores Türkiye’s ambitions to become a major player in the global aviation industry. TAI is also showcasing other technology products and platforms at the fair, further highlighting the country’s growing aerospace capabilities.
