NATO Chief Mark Rutte Praises ASELSAN Ahead of NATO Leaders’ Summit in Ankara

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has praised ASELSAN, Türkiye’s leading defense electronics company, for its growing role in strengthening NATO’s technological capabilities ahead of the NATO Leaders’ Summit, scheduled to take place in Ankara this July.

Speaking about the Alliance’s evolving security landscape, Rutte stressed the importance of a strong and innovative defense industry in addressing modern security challenges. He highlighted ASELSAN as a key driver of Türkiye’s defense industry transformation and a valuable contributor to NATO’s collective defense capabilities.

Reflecting on his recent visit to ASELSAN’s advanced facilities in Ankara, Rutte said:

“This spring, I spoke with talented young engineers at ASELSAN, Türkiye’s largest defense electronics company. They are driving Türkiye’s defense industrial revolution, which will benefit every member of our Alliance.”

The remarks underscore NATO’s recognition of Türkiye’s expanding defense manufacturing capabilities and ASELSAN’s growing influence within the global defense sector.

Earlier this year, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte visited ASELSAN’s Gölbaşı Technology Base in Ankara, where he was introduced to the company’s comprehensive portfolio of advanced defense technologies designed for modern, multi-domain operations.

During the visit, ASELSAN demonstrated a wide range of next-generation defense solutions, including the Steel Dome multi-layered air defense architecture, counter-drone systems, land combat technologies, naval defense platforms, electronic warfare capabilities, and advanced payload systems for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The presentation emphasized the company’s integrated approach to delivering interoperable and mission-ready solutions for today’s complex battlefield environments.

Rutte also met with ASELSAN’s young engineers and researchers, recognizing the company’s commitment to innovation, technological excellence, and the development of highly skilled engineering talent that continues to shape Türkiye’s defense industry.

The NATO delegation further toured ASELSAN’s state-of-the-art production facilities and final assembly lines, where they observed the company’s advanced serial manufacturing capabilities. Key components of the Steel Dome air defense system and several flagship defense platforms were showcased, highlighting ASELSAN’s ability to rapidly produce sophisticated defense technologies.

The visit reinforced ASELSAN’s position as one of Europe’s leading defense companies and demonstrated its capability to provide scalable, interoperable, and high-performance defense solutions backed by advanced engineering, cutting-edge manufacturing, and continuous innovation.

As NATO continues to strengthen its collective defense posture, ASELSAN’s technological advancements and production capacity are expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting the Alliance’s future operational requirements.
