Four Launches, Four Direct Hits: ASELSAN’s Guidance Kits Deliver Precision

ASELSAN guidance kits once again proved their precision strike credentials on 2 September 2026, scoring four direct hits against four different targets during an international live-fire demonstration. The LGK 82, LGK 84 and GÖZDE systems were put through their paces at the Konya Karapınar Firing Test Range, with military officials from more than 15 countries in attendance. Among the targets was a high-speed moving vehicle, a scenario that tests precision guidance under far more demanding conditions than a static target does.

How the ASELSAN Guidance Kits Demonstration Unfolded

The event, formally titled the Guidance Systems Demonstration, brought together air platforms, ground targets and international observers in a single test window. Two LGK 84 guidance kits were launched from an F-16, striking an armored personnel carrier and a tank respectively. Meanwhile, an LGK 82 was launched from a BAYRAKTAR AKINCI unmanned aerial vehicle against a second armored personnel carrier.

The fourth and arguably most demanding test involved GÖZDE, a system developed by ASELSAN in cooperation with TÜBİTAK SAGE. Launched from an AKINCI, GÖZDE engaged a target moving at 50 km/h and scored a direct hit. As a result, all four engagements across two different platforms and three distinct munitions ended in confirmed hits.

What Makes These ASELSAN Guidance Kits Different

LGK 82 and LGK 84 are designed to convert unguided freefall bombs into precision-guided weapons. In practice, this means existing bomb stockpiles can be upgraded into high-accuracy munitions without requiring an entirely new weapons platform, which is a significant cost and logistics advantage for operators.

GÖZDE, on the other hand, is purpose-built for a harder problem: hitting targets that are actively moving. Combining precision guidance with dedicated moving-target engagement capability, GÖZDE is aimed squarely at dynamic battlefield scenarios where a target’s position at launch is not its position at impact. The 50 km/h intercept during this demonstration was intended to showcase exactly that capability under realistic conditions.

Why This Live-Fire Test Matters

Taken together, the four engagements highlight the versatility of ASELSAN’s guidance kits across different air platforms, from a crewed F-16 to unmanned AKINCI aircraft, and across different target types, from stationary armor to a fast-moving vehicle. For the visiting delegations from over 15 countries, the demonstration functioned as a real-world validation of claims that are often made on paper alone.

In addition, the involvement of TÜBİTAK SAGE alongside ASELSAN on the GÖZDE program underscores the collaborative, domestically driven nature of Türkiye’s precision-guided munitions development. As international interest in cost-effective smart weapons continues to grow, results like these are likely to feature prominently in ASELSAN’s export conversations going forward.
