ASELSAN’s TOLUN Munition Family Demonstrates Versatile Deep-Strike Capabilities

ASELSAN put its TOLUN Deep Strike Munition Family through its paces on 1 September 2026, successfully engaging a range of different targets in live firing tests launched from the BAYRAKTAR AKINCI. The demonstration, held at the Konya Karapınar Firing Test Range, drew military officials from more than 15 countries, all watching as TOLUN I, TOLUN F and TOLUN P were fired against distinct target types to showcase their individual warhead and fuze configurations.

Three Munitions, Three Distinct Jobs

What made the Karapınar demonstration notable wasn’t just that the munitions hit their targets, but that each one was built to solve a different tactical problem.

TOLUN I, fitted with an impact fuze and a fragmentation warhead, scored a direct hit on a container target — a straightforward but essential proof of accuracy. TOLUN F told a more nuanced story: equipped with a proximity sensor and fragmentation warhead, it engaged an armored personnel carrier and showed it could maximize effect even against targets operating close to personnel, where over-penetration or excessive blast radius would be a liability. Its selectable impact angle, paired with software designed to resist GPS spoofing, gives operators more control in contested electronic environments where a munition’s guidance can otherwise be tricked off course.

Then there’s TOLUN P, arguably the standout of the three. Carrying a programmable time-delay fuze and a penetrating warhead, it punched through a two-story concrete structure and neutralized its target at a specific designated layer inside the building — not just the outer wall. That kind of precision owes a lot to ASELSAN’s ASAF-Hard Target Fuze, which once again proved its worth against reinforced concrete, the sort of target that trips up munitions not purpose-built for penetration.

Built to Fly in Numbers

None of this works in isolation from the platform carrying it. The TOLUN family is integrated with ASELSAN’s SADAK-4T Multiple Ejector Rack, which lets aircraft carry multiple units at once. In practical terms, that means a single BAYRAKTAR AKINCI sortie could go after several high-value targets — or hit one target with more than one munition variant — without needing to return for a second pass.

Combine that with fuze and warhead options tailored to different target types, and TOLUN I, TOLUN F and TOLUN P start to look less like three separate weapons and more like a modular toolkit: pick the configuration that matches the target, load it onto the same rack, and go.
