MKE TOLGA IS READY TO PROTECT STRATEGIC CIVILIAN VESSELS
The MKE TOLGA 20mm Dual Weapon Revolver System has moved beyond the military market. During firing trials aboard TCG Beykoz at the National Unmanned Maritime Systems Exercise (TURNAs-2026) in Turkiye, the system destroyed aerial and surface targets. Now MKE says the same technology can help protect commercial and civilian vessels carrying out strategically important operations at sea.

The system can be integrated onto deepwater drilling ships, seismic survey vessels, cablelaying ships and floating power plants. Each of these ships supports strategically important work, so their protection matters. The TOLGA offers defence against both aerial and surface threats, giving operators a practical layer of protection.
Speed and Accuracy at Sea
The numbers stand out. With a rate of fire of 3,200 rounds per minute, the system fires at three times the rate of comparable weapons worldwide. It engages airborne and surface kamikaze threats at an effective range of 1,000 metres, using anti-drone fragmentation ammunition. Advanced stabilisation keeps the guns on target while the ship is under way, which improves firing effectiveness. An elevation range of −30° to +70° allows engagement of targets at varying heights and altitudes.

Trials Lead to a Paris Debut
After its successful engagements, the TOLGA 20 mm made its exhibition debut at EURONAVAL 2026 in Paris, which ran from 3 to 6 November. MKE developed the system in line with its “Effective, Simple and Affordable” approach. The company says the system and its ammunition combine a high rate of fire with an effective response to these threats.
What It Means for Operators
For operators running strategically important missions at sea, the TOLGA gives a direct and practical answer to modern drone and surface threats. Its combination of rapid fire, stabilised aiming and a wide elevation range makes it a serious option for civilian and commercial fleets. As threats at sea continue to evolve, systems like this one may become a more common sight on the decks of working merchant ships.
