Pakistan Navy Promotes Shehzad Iqbal to Rear Admiral

The Pakistan Navy announced on Monday the promotion of Commodore Shehzad Iqbal to the rank of Rear Admiral, marking another milestone in his illustrious naval career spanning nearly three decades.

Rear Admiral Iqbal brings a comprehensive educational foundation to his new role. His academic credentials include graduation from the prestigious Pakistan Navy War College in Lahore and the National Defence University in Islamabad. He further distinguished himself with a BSc in Naval Sciences from Karachi University and enhanced his tactical expertise through the completion of a specialized Gunnery Officer Command Course in China.

Throughout his service since his commission into the Operations Branch in 1995, Rear Admiral Iqbal has accumulated significant command experience across various critical naval positions. His leadership roles have included serving as the Commanding Officer of PNS Saif and Commander of Jinnah Naval Base Ormara. Notably, he demonstrated his tactical acumen while leading the 25th Destroyer Squadron of the Pakistan Navy.

Rear Admiral Iqbal’s career has been marked by several key staff appointments that showcase his strategic capabilities. He has served in crucial positions including:

  • Senior Staff Officer (Operations and Plans) at Pakistan Fleet Headquarters
  • Director of Foreign Military Collaboration
  • Director of Naval Operational Plans
  • Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Operations) at Naval Headquarters

In acknowledgment of his exemplary service to the Pakistan Navy and his contributions to national defense, Rear Admiral Shehzad Iqbal has been decorated with the Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military), one of Pakistan’s prestigious military awards.

This promotion reflects both Rear Admiral Iqbal’s personal achievements and the Pakistan Navy’s recognition of his leadership capabilities. His diverse experience in operational, educational, and strategic roles positions him well for increased responsibilities in safeguarding Pakistan’s maritime interests.
