Pakistan Navy Hosts AMAN 2025 Exercise In Karachi

Pakistan Navy is set to host its ninth multinational Maritime Exercise AMAN-25 alongside the inaugural AMAN Dialogue in Karachi from February 7-11, 2025, marking a significant milestone in international maritime cooperation. This prestigious event brings together over 60 nations, demonstrating Pakistan’s commitment to global maritime security and regional stability.

Commander Pakistan Fleet, Rear Admiral Abdul Munib, emphasized the exercise’s importance amid shifting global dynamics from geopolitics to geoeconomics. With maritime security becoming increasingly crucial for international trade and energy routes, Exercise AMAN serves as a vital platform for naval cooperation and strategic partnerships.

The exercise, launched in 2007 under the slogan “Together for Peace,” has evolved significantly from its initial focus on counter-terrorism and anti-piracy operations. Today, it encompasses a broader spectrum of maritime security challenges, reflecting the complex nature of modern naval operations.

The five-day event is structured in two phases. The Harbor Phase (February 7-9) features professional seminars, operational discussions, and international gatherings, fostering knowledge exchange among participating nations. The Sea Phase (February 10-11) includes tactical maneuvers, maritime security exercises, and the prestigious International Fleet Review, showcasing naval capabilities and operational coordination.

A groundbreaking addition to this year’s exercise is the maiden AMAN Dialogue, which brings together naval chiefs, coast guard commanders, and defense force leaders. This strategic forum enables high-level discussions on shared maritime challenges and innovative solutions, combining intellectual discourse with practical maritime experience.

The collaboration extends beyond traditional military exercises to include joint responses to non-traditional security threats, search and rescue operations, and counter-terrorism drills.

Pakistan’s initiative reflects its growing role as a key maritime player capable of facilitating international cooperation for regional peace and prosperity. The exercise strengthens Pakistan’s position in safeguarding vital Sea Lines Of Communication while promoting collective maritime security solutions.
