Baykar Leads Turkey’s Defense Exports In 2024

Turkish drone manufacturer Baykar maintained its position as Turkey’s leading defense exporter in 2024, achieving $1.8 billion in international sales and commanding 90% of its revenue from exports. This performance marks the company’s continued dominance in the global UAV market.

The company’s success contributed significantly to Turkey’s record-breaking defense exports of $7.15 billion in 2024, representing a 30% increase from the previous year. Baykar alone accounted for one-fourth of the sector’s total exports, solidifying its position as a key player in Turkey’s defense industry.

Baykar’s prominence in the global drone market has been particularly noteworthy, with Turkiye controlling 65% of worldwide UAV exports according to the Center for New American Security. The company’s Bayraktar TB2 drones gained international recognition through their successful deployment in various conflicts, including Ukraine’s defense against Russian forces.

The company has expanded its market reach by securing agreements with 34 countries for the Bayraktar TB2 and 10 countries for its advanced Akıncı combat drones. Recent developments include the acquisition of Italian aviation manufacturer Piaggio Aerospace and potential collaboration with Leonardo, indicating Baykar’s strategic growth in the European aerospace sector.
